    The rule of thumb is that if you have cravings a lot or are seriously stalled, cut the caffeine and/or alcohol and see where it takes you. Focus on lean cuts of beef and lamb. Even cheaper cuts of beef are good.

    It’s good to cut down your milk consumption for the first two weeks, and see how your body likes it. You cut out things like pasta, bread, rice and alcohol, yet you eat unlimited amounts of meat, cheese and butter.

    A low carb, high protein diet has been scientifically proven to improve insulin sensitivity, decrease blood pressure and cut blood insulin levels. No “diet” cheese, cheese spreads or whey cheeses are permitted. Vegetable and seed oils, cheese, dairy, nuts and legumes are used sparingly and in appropriate portions. Typical foods you can eat include meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and cheese, plus a limited amount of green vegetables such as asparagus, spinach, and broccoli

    You can try more greens and other vegetables, half a cup of cottage cheese, one ounce of sunflower seeds, or a dozen macadamia nuts. When you stop losing weight, you subtract five grams of carbohydrate from your daily allotment, so that slow weight loss continues. Eat absolutely no fruits, bread, pasta, grains, starchy vegetables, or dairy products other than cheese, cream or butter.

    As to fast foods hamburgers with no bun would be “OK”.  You should ask for the burger with no condiments to make this part easier. Fresh cheeses like cottage and farmer’s chesses are not allowed, nor are processed diet cheeses and cheese substitutes. No fries, no shakes. Also be sure you don’t eat any fruit.

    The Atkins diet food List also includes aged cheeses as well as cheddars, and cow, sheep or goats cheese. It is not true that you can eat whatever you want as long as it doesn’t have carbohydrates. I suggest you visit a physician before starting a low carb or any other diet plan

    While the pounds drop off, you’ll reap dozens of other fringe benefits as a result of making the switch to a controlled carbohydrate lifestyle. I’m finding a lot of previously “Low Carb” marked products are actually low carb normally.

    Everything that is added has carbs. So keep your menu plans close to you and your high carb foods aside from you. Curing is not a friendly process to one who aims for a low carb diet.

    Under the Atkins program, foods containing carbohydrates (like sugar, grains, and starches) are limited or replaced in favor of foods containing more protein and fat.  The Atkins diet menu stipulates that main weight loss will come from low carbohydrate intake. There are lots of great low carb chocolates and ice creams but avoid these for the first 2 weeks.

    I have been working on a new diet/exercise program for a while now – and I am finding that if I don’t eat carbs I have no energy at all to go to the gym

    It’s your first day in the kitchen and you have no idea where to start. A haphazard way of doing things will only delay meals and see that you are stuck in the kitchen for a long time! To ensure that you produce quicker and easy-to-prepare meals, as well as please your family’s taste buds, a few cooking tips and hints are in order—

    (1) First of all, there has to be a place from where you can pick up cooking tips and hints. There are many classes set up for beginners by various local institutions and organizations. In addition, they are not expensive. Since most of the students are beginners, you feel comfortable in sharing your own experiences and learning from others.

    (2) Once you cross the beginner’s level and develop a taste for cooking, further instructions at an advanced level for specifics such as dessert-making, barbecuing, baking and so on, can be obtained. If you do not wish to continue as a student after learning the basics, you could turn your attention to magazines devoted to cooking. Many of them display articles related to specific cooking methodology.

    (3) If you are the type of person who can get easily overwhelmed, you can just go for one favorite item and learn the related skills. Once that is mastered, you can move ahead from there.

    (4) Another way of getting cooking tips and hints is to browse the Internet. This does require some time and patience, but you will be well rewarded with a number of websites offering answers to all your questions.

    (5) Many cooking tips and hints are centered round recipes. Even the preparation of the simplest dish requires following a certain method. Recipes act as guides here. The instructions are presented in a precise and step-by-step format, making them easy to follow. Plenty of cook books are available in the market to help you out. Some of them are good enough to present helpful ideas as well as cooking tips and hints along with the recipes.

    (6) Reading a recipe correctly is also an art! The reason is that the measurements related to ingredients presented in each recipe can be quite confusing for a beginner. Some measurements are related to liquids while others are related to solids. Look for cooking tips and hints regarding cooking measurements.

    (7) Cookbooks (but not all of them) also talk about utensils required for cooking. All types of utensils are available for purchase, but you need cooking tips and hints to let you know which are more commonly used than others. You can therefore buy what you need immediately before going in for any others.

    My two Vizsla hunting dogs get homemade dog food twice each day. I mix an adjusted amount with good quality dry kibble.

    Homemade dog food can be better than some commercial products. We don’t realize what’s in the food we give our pets. Always inspect the ingredients.

    Commercial dog foods can contain preservatives, and are altered by chemical processes that can be unhealthy for dogs. They can also contain processed unknown animal products and fillers that do nothing to contribute to your pet’s health.

    To avoid your dogs ingesting unknown dog food ingredients, make your own. Control not only the content, but the quality as well.

    Reasons To Consider A Homemade Dog Food

    Homemade dog food, your hunting dog will love you

    * dog has allergies to food

    * persistent skin problems

    * gastrointestinal upsets including diarrhea or constipation

    * competes in sporting events or working stock and needs strength for endurance

    * control of quality and freshness

    * nothing processed so food retains all the vitamins, antioxidants and enzymes

    Observe your dog to see he is getting his required dog food nutrition.

    * shiny coat, illustrious feel

    * sparkling eyes

    * alert, good energy and activity

    * maintain weight without getting fat

    * stool firm and consistent

    An appropriately balanced dog food recipe contains roughly 40% meat, 30% starch and 30% vegetables.

    1. Meat: Any type can be included. Organ meat, such as liver, is particularly healthy for dogs. Bones should be removed as they are a choking hazard. Cook the meat – uncooked meat can contain unhealthy bacteria and possibly parasites.

    2. Starch: Most forms are okay – cooked pasta, potatoes, and rice are common choices for homemade dog food.

    3. Vegetables: Most types can be used. Do not use onions as they can be toxic. Cook the vegetables – raw veggies can pose a choking hazard.

    Pay attention to your dog’s response to the new dog food recipes you use. There may be items they refuse to eat or have reactions to a particular food. Try something else in their place, such as substitute chicken for turkey or rice for potatoes. Be aware for changes in your dog’s behavior, especially things such as excessive scratching. This could indicate an allergy to one of the foods you are using.

    Homemade dog food recipes generally cause fewer allergic reactions than commercial brands. Plus, by making dog food recipes at home, you can control the proportion of different ingredients. This can be very important to working and sporting breeds that may require more nutrients for their active lifestyles.
